![]() Pinky and the Brain were of course the stand outs, with Slappy the Squirrel being a great throwback character and Buttons & Mindy being fun slapstick. The Goodfeathers was a one-joke bit, the hippos were tiresome fat-jokes, Rita and Runt was *extremely* tiresome. It is still 2020 after all.To be fair, a lot of the secondary characters on the original series were not great. I'm still cautiously optimistic, but after Star Wars VII-IX and Incredibles II, I am bracing myself for disappointment. This is reminiscent of the final season of the original series, which basically dumped the rest of the cast as well (except for the occasional Slappy skit) and was worse off for it. That ad also makes it obvious that this is the Warners/Pinky & the Brain show, not full-on Animaniacs. I hope the reboot can manage to do so with real wit and not just an obvious checklist of wokeness. The original series frequently dug into current events. Well, we got Trump and "mansplaining" in that trailer. The show will return to Hulu for a second 13-episode season in 2021.
